Sunrise on the 16th

Barely caught the sunrise this morning, I got this by seeing the orange light on the wall and I jumped out onto the balcony to get a snapshot.

Sunrise on the 14th

Woke up and couldn’t get back to sleep, which sucks as I went to bed late. I guess my body is getting me up for work whether I have work or not. Anyway, at least I got a couple of pretty sunrise photographs out of it.

This is actually about 20 minutes after true sunrise, but there’s that pesky low-lying cloud again. It did make for a couple of nice photos though;

Sunrise 2 Aug 14, 2010

A lot of nice golden colours this morning, well worth the sleep deficit being up early will cause.

Sunrise on Friday 13th

Managed to get a couple of sunrise photos this morning, despite the cloud trying to foil me again. It’s been a bad week for sunrises, but Friday prevailed again.

This is the actual sunrise, like I said the cloud has been bad. There was a strange kind of anti-spectrum hanging at the bottom of the cloud here.

Actual sunrise Aug 13, 2010

This is when the sun finally broke the low-level cloud that foiled me on the actual sunrise;

Visible Sun Aug 13, 2010

I guess it’s a lucky 13, because I have been trying every morning to steal a sunrise photo, but on the unluckiest day of the year (the only Friday the 13th this year) I manage to snag one. Go figure.

And the heat continues…

Another hot steamy day in the sun today, just like every other day. I am looking forward to when the humidity finally goes and the temperatures are comfortable again, it’s well overdue as this is a ridiculously long summer so far.

On Weather

With several weeks of awful weather reporting by The Weather Network, and simply laughable weather reporting by CHCH (Hamilton City) news, and a seemingly random volcanic eruption that has stranded my brother in France (the lucky bastard) . . . I am wondering if there is any merit in believing there is perfect weather for my work week ahead. Mid ten’s Monday through Friday with zero precipitation, it almost sounds too good to be true.

Having grown up with England’s April Showers I have half a mind to wrap myself in a tarp and prepare for a deluge of biblical proportions. However, for now at least, I will trust the predictions and hope I stay dry.

With the history of volcanic eruptions from Iceland, there could be interesting weather on the forefront. With eruptions being recognized to have lasted up to a year, it could be potentially devastating for European air travel but a potential boon for the car wash industry at the same time. I suppose it would be nice to see The Scream-esque sunsets the volcanic ash will cause throughout Europe. Who knows, we might even get another great piece of art out of this!

Groundhog Day

Those damn rodents are telling us what to do again! According to the Pennsylvania marmot it has predicted six more weeks of winter, thank you very much! Or, in an alternate take, it has cursed us with another six weeks. Could this groundhog have the means to control the planetary climate?

I believe it’s safe to say, yes. We must all hail this furry mammalian until its winter spell is complete so that we can venture out of our properties in T-shirts and shorts. Or, perhaps, we could just wear winter coats like we have been all winter and ignore the little varmint.

In related news, I may conduct a scientific test on the foresight capabilities of small mammals using Baxter and see if I can get an accuracy rate nearing that of an 8-ball. Or not, you know, depending on how the day goes and depending on whether or not I want to anger the rabbit.
